Serbian Hussars
Serbskiy Hussarskiy polk (Serbian Hussar regiment)

        Origin

Serbian Hussars had origin from Hussar regiment under Major Albanez, appeared on Russian service in 1723. Recruitment passed very slow, & in 1725 it was reduced to the Komanda Serbskikh Hussar (Corps of Serbian Hussars). The staff & strength of this Komanda is unknown, because it was one of the numerous semi-regular troops raised for protection of the Russian frontier against Turkey & Crimean Tartars.

    In 1733-34 the Komanda took part in the War of Polish Succession. Serbian Hussars took part in the siege of Danzig (in May 1734 the Komanda was of 298 men) & countless actions & skirmishes against Polish insurgents.

    The next war, Serbian Hussars fought in, was Turkish War 1736-39. The Komanda took active part in Crimean & Wallachians campaigns 1736-39 & fought at Slavuchany. During this war the Komanda was expanded to several companies & was about 700 men by the end the war.

    On October 14, 1741 the Komanda was converted to Serbskiy Hussarskiy Polk (Serbian Hussar regiment) & right away took part in the War 1741-43 with Sweden. They fought in campaigns 1741 & 1742 & presented at Wilmanstrand & Helsingforce.

        Service during Seven Years War

Serbian Hussar regiment joined Russian field army in winter 1756-57 & took part in all main battles, Russians fought in: Gross-Jagersdorf (1757), Zorndorf (1758) & Kunersdorf (1759). In 1760 Serbian Hussars were in Totleben's Corps captured Berlin.

        Uniforms

During the SYW Serbian Hussars wore the uniform of 1741 pattern. Pelisse & dolman were light-blue with black lace. Chashkiry were also light-blue with black lace. Kushack (a barrel sash) was black/light blue. Sabretache was light-blue with black lace & monogram. Epancha (a cloak) was light-blue. Buttons were cooper.

 

Moldavian Hussars
Moldavskiy Hussarskiy Polk (Moldavian Hussar regiment)

        Origin

Moldavian Hussars had origin from Moldavians & Wallachians served in Russian army during the War 1736-39 with Turkey. When Russian army under FM Minikh entered Wallachia, many Wallachian & Moldavian Auxiliary troops on Turkish service changed side & joined Russians. They were united in Hussar regiment under Kniaz (Prince) Kantemir, which became Moldavskiy Hussarskiy Polk (Moldavian Hussar regiment) on October 14, 1741.

New-formed Moldavian Hussars took part in War 1741-43 with Sweden. They fought in campaigns 1741 & 1743 & presented at Wilmanstrand & Helsingforce.

Hungarian Hussars
Vengerskiy Hussarskiy polk (Hungarian Hussar regiment)

        Origin  

During the War 1736-39 with Turkey many Hungarian deserters from Turkish & Polish armies entered Russian service. They formed several independent Hussar companies, converted to Vengerskiy Hussarskiy polk (Hungarian Hussar regiment) on October 14, 1741.

        Service during Seven Years War

Georgian Hussars
Gruzinskiy Hussarskiy Polk (Georgian Hussar regiment)

        Origin

Georgian Hussars had origin from volunteer Hussar companies served in Russian army during the War 1736-39 with Turkey. During campaign 1739 in Wallachia Russian army under FM Minikh included 4 companies of Georgian Hussars, which were converted to the Gruzinskiy Hussarskiy Polk (Georgian Hussar regiment) on October 14, 1741.

New-formed Georgian Hussars took part in War 1741-43 with Sweden. They fought in campaigns 1741 & 1743 & presented at Wilmanstrand & Helsingforce.

        Service during Seven Years War

Georgian Hussar regiment had battle history different from other Hussar regiments. It fought at: Gross-Jagersdorf (1757), Zorndorf (1758) & Kunersdorf (1759) & was in Totleben's Corps captured Berlin (1760). During campaign 1761 Georgian Hussars under command of colonel Kniaz (Prince) Amilokhvarov were in Rumiantsev's Corps at Colberg & took part in countless skirmishes with Vernec Hussars & Frei-corps.

During the SYW Georgian Hussars wore the uniform of 1741 pattern. Pelisse & Dolman were yellow with red cords. Chashkiry were also yellow with red lace. Kushack (a barrel sash) was black with yellow barrels. Sabretache was yellow with red lace & monogram. Epancha (a cloak) is unknown. Buttons were cooper.
